Kathy McCartney owns popular C618 located on the top floor of building C at the Kihei Akahi Resort. Enjoy spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, Mount Haleakala, Kaho'olawe Island, Molokini Crater, tropical gardens, and glowing sunset skies. This beautiful 655 square foot home has textured ceilings/walls, new paint and Crown Molding with tropical furniture, island style artwork, and Asian accent pieces. The décor has many rich colors sure to please the eye. Kathy's home has new tile floors throughout the condo, new cabinetry and counter tops. This unit has AC in the living room and FREE secured Wi-Fi cable Internet access for your laptop. New large 32" tub/shower Kohler brand with natural Travertine walls and glass shower door. New very comfortable King size bed. Stay in comfort in one of the best valued properties and best building location at the Kihei Akahi Resort. We attract repeat visitors year after year.

The well maintained Kihei Akahi complex has two swimming pools, BBQs, and a tennis court surrounded in a tropical landscaped setting. This complex is directly across the street from popular Kamaole Beach Park II and another five minute stroll to the border of Wailea and then Keawakapu Beach.

February 2011 - Unit C618 - Aloha Kathy, We are enjoying our stay very much in your lovely condo, it is beautiful and stocked with everything we could ever think of needing - especially love the views!  Sadly, the time is getting close to when we have to leave. I can't find the email we got from you if there's anything else we need to do other than start the dishwasher, the sheets in the washer and garbage out... Your art is lovely, is there somewhere on Maui it's displayed?  Also, I'm going to check my work calendar for next Feb when we get home but if you could pencil us in to stay in C618 around the same time for 2 - 3 weeks?   Mahalo!  Ray and Sharon

February 2011 - Unit C618 - "A Super well located Condo."  We have stayed in Kathy's condo for the last 7 years.We stay for the month of November and February. January 2011 - Unit C618 - My daughter, my sister and I had a great girls' getaway at Kathy's condo C618 for 11 days in January. The location was perfect, right across from the beach, with views from our 6th floor lanai of both the sunrise over Haleakala and the sunset over the ocean! The condo is well-maintained and Kathy has provided all the comforts of home, including one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. August 2010 – Unit C618 - We love the condo! We are just thrilled that it was way more than we expected and we can relax inside or outside of our "home away from home". :) A ginornmous MAHALO! July 9, 2010 - Unit C618 - I have stayed in this complex many times over the past 25 yrs C618 is like I say "Home away from home". Everything a person needs for a vacation in Maui. May 2010 – Unit C618 - Aloha Kathy! This vacataion has been everything we may have expected and much more!! Maui is paradise! And staying in your home gave us all the conveniences of home with a comfortable, convenient and just wonderful place to live for 2 weeks! I love the quiet, I even like the “wake-up birds” every morning! The land views BEACH, Mountains, flowers all are spectacular! Mike’s hope was to fish and fish! Had a mother and baby whale next to the boat and so what a memorable video that is! Also shore fishing he caught an octopus! We were told that is rare. The fish are so incredibly beautiful! February 2010 – Unit C618 - Aloha!! We had a FANTASTIC time here and thank you SO MUCH for everything!! February 2010 – Unit C618 - Aloha once again Kathy and Linda. We had a lovely 29 days with beautiful weather. Thanks for the lovely gift basket. Again we did a number of things. We spent some time at 12 different beaches as recommended in the “Maui Revealed.” Each one has its pros and cons. We also did the jeep around the North end of the island and Makawao, Paia, Five Palms, Freds, Wailea entertainment and Kimo Candy, Swap Meet, and watched many sunsets. July 09-Unit C618-Kathy, Thank you so much for sharing your Maui condo with us. We have so enjoyed our time here. Lots of beach time with a few drives. We toured Makawao and Lahaina, the swap meet on Saturday in Kahalui (great bargains and selections), and a trip to the Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary (726 S. Kihei Road). That was lots of fun and informative. We checked out Big Beach (be careful but fun), Makena, and any others. Our favorite snorkel spot remains Ahihi Kinau Reserve past the love. Great spot. Turtles, a moray eel, a zebra eel, lots of tang and marvelous fish. We are looking forward to our next trip. Thank you! Jeff and Donna. PS We love your artwork.

June 09-Unit C618-Aloha Kathy! It is departure day and we leave with full hearts! Your home here is both beautiful and peaceful, and we loved being here. We were lucky to be here for the Maui Film Festival and attended 3 evenings. What fun! The people at Maui Dive Co. got s going with snorkeling. We took their snorkeling trip to Molokini and “Turtle Town” enjoyed it thoroughly and then rented the snorkeling gear with the ½ wet suit. We snorkeled every day. The water is so beautiful. Your recommendations for everything were right on and so helpful. Thank you for all the care and consideration you give to your guests comfort and happiness. Sherry

June 2009 – C618 - Hi Kathy, Julie & I had a great time staying at your condo. This was our 30th wedding anniversary and what a way to spend it. The fruit basket was yummy. This was our first time in Maui and it was great. We did the Pearl Harbor tour, horse back riding, fishing for marlins, road to road to Hana, snorkeling, parasailing, swimming & helicopter ride to Molokini. We had such a great time for the 2 weeks we stayed at your place. The people were so friendly there and what a switch. We will be doing this again and I want to thank you very much for having us stay at your condo. The best thing was to be able to go down stairs walk across the street and jump into to the ocean, which was great. Thank you very much Scott & Julie

April 2009 – C618 - Hi Kathy and Linda, Just wanted to thank you again for everything, we had a wonderful time. The condo was perfect we really appreciated having access to chairs and the snorkel gear. We had a wonderful holiday. Very relaxing. Your snorkel recommendations were awesome. We liked swimming with the turtles right here at Kamaole II the best. It was wonderful to watch the whales from the lanai. March 2009 - C618 and C309 – Hi Kathy! Just wanted to let you know that everyone had a fantastic time in Maui. My family really enjoyed your condo, and we all appreciated the wonderful gift baskets that you had delivered - thanks so much! It's been awhile since I've seen your unit (C618) and the updates that you've made are great! I don't know the next time we'll have a chance to visit again (we're actually moving out of CA in a few months), but when we return to Maui, we will definitely contact you again. March 09 – Unit C618 - Kathy, Susan and I arrived home today, after a wonderful holiday in Maui. thank you for providing us with a great place to stay. We had a couple of days of rain...but it was still a heck of a lot warmer than it was at home. Everything worked out well for us. December 2008 – C618 - Aloha Kathy, As usual, it is great to be back here, it was like walking into a 'home away from home. The beer in the fridge was the best thing. The day's travels all forgotten, sitting on the lanai, drinking my 'Longboards,' eating fresh Maui pineapple. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, such a life. Thank you for the fruit basket, it is always appreciated & well used. Yummy coffee & cookies. My oldest son & his wife are here for their 1st time & they also think that they are in Paradise. Hope that you are well, again, thank you for the fruit basket & the beer. I forgot to mention that I love the new colors, they look terrific. The side by side fridge with the ice dispenser is also invaluable. There was quite a storm a few days ago, thankfully the power didn't go out. Hope that you had some good weather on your holiday – Aloha Gaye.

Sept 08 – C618 - We are back safely from our trip to Maui and Oahu and just wanted to say how much we enjoyed staying in C618 at the Kihei Akahi! It's a nice quiet place to kick back, relax and listen to the sounds of the birds and the ocean. We explored the island thoroughly and got some great snorkeling in at the Ahihi Kinau Preserve. We did the Highway to Hana and the sunrise on Haleakala. Yes, we were busy! We came back to cold temperatures and some rain. Wish we were back on Maui. September 2008 – C618 - Dear Kathy, It has been a long time from my summer vacation. In Japan, it became colder nowadays. I really love snow boarding, so I'm waiting for snow...I remember the days in Maui. It was very nice. I enjoyed everything! I stayed comfortably thanks to your condo. Besides, you provided that cheaper than the regular price. As my gratitude, I will send you this Japanese wash clothes. Which is yu-zen dying. These are very convenient and functional. In Maui I really enjoyed the life. First, I went to Krispy Kreme (there are some shops too in Japan. It appeared a few years ago) and Safeway to buy things we need in Maui life but before that, Hawaiian Air lost our baggage. Our 2 suitcases went to Hawaii. We didn't like to wait so we had our baggage delivered to our condo. We went to the beaches everyday. Some of the days sharks appeared. We couldn't enter the sea for more than 4 hours. I sometimes surfed (but little waves in the summer), sometimes we went shopping at the Farmer's Market and swap meet. This year, we challenged driving to Hana. It's a little far from Kihei, but it was really wonderful and scenic way. We got avocados!!! It was wild one. There was an avocado tree and my friend found it. There was some tiny trouble but there were all nice memories! Thanks a lot xxx - Mimi.

July 2008 – C618 - Hi Kathy and Linda, We are just leaving Maui today. Thank-you for hosting us at your lovely condo. We had a great time. May 2008 – C618 – This was our first time visiting Maui, and we loved it! The weather was great, the temperature was perfect and the beaches were beautiful. We had lots that we wanted to do, and we managed to squeeze it all in during the week that we were here. It was so nice to be able to come back to the condo after our various activities and have a place of our own to relax and cook a meal. We spent a lot of time on the balcony admiring the view. The condo was great and very well stocked; we especially appreciated the beach chairs, snorkels, boogie boards, and the cooler. Thanks for the great place Kathy. – Karin and Chris

May 2007 - Aloha, It's hard to believe that we've been back from our trip to Maui for a little over a week now. We just wanted to tell you what a wonderful time we had. Thank you so much for the wonderful basket of treats that you sent us. We have never tasted pineapple so good. The condo had all the comforts of home. We absolutely loved sitting on the lanai every morning overlooking the ocean, and the evenings were just beautiful. We were very impressed at how well maintained the grounds were. It was a real treat to just walk down the driveway to the beach. Kathy, thank you so much for allowing us to check out later in the day. You have no idea how that eased things up at our end. We had so many wonderful experiences during our stay. Some of the highlights were the beautiful beaches, The Feast at Lele (on my birthday), a secretly planned massage and facial by Christian, shopping at Lahaina, watching the surfers at Ho'okipa. We ate some wonderful food. To name a few, Mama's Fish House was outstanding, the local fare at Hana Hou cafe, Fish Tacos at Alexanders, and of course Shave Ice. I could go on and on, but I'd have to write a novel. Needless to say, we had a wonderful trip and we will be back. Jan 2007-C618 - Aloha Kathy and Ryan! So wonderful to finally meet you! Now, we can put a face to our e-mails. Again, we’ve had a spectacular time at “Our Home Away From Home”.. “Life in Maui is Magic”… Snorkeling, swimming, beaches, golfing whale watching, cycling down Haleakala again we rented bikes on our own in Haiku – Daily rate $34.95 bikes helmets, rain gear, back packs, locks, etc. Went to top, cycled to Kula Lodge, known for their “House Special Pizza” (Best we’ve ever had), then went back up to top, then all the way down to Haiku.A real Thriller! For my birthday this year, we rented a jeep for the day! So fun and stopped by Fleming Beach. Whales and surfers put on a wonderful show! Up over the top on narrow one lane road around curve were six donkeys appearing from nowhere! How funny they would not let us pass! Spent a day at Haycroft Park up at Maalea Bay and watched the birth of a baby whale such a thrill!!! Again Sat Swap meet for fruit veggies and flowers! We’ve added a snorkel and mask and crock pot to condo. Kathy your art in gallery looks great! “Good Luck!” Again a wonderful 47 days here in “paradise” enjoying many old and new friends. Dec 06-C618 - Aloha Kathy! We enjoyed the time we spent here immensely. Everything is so beautiful. Taking one of the tours of the road to Hana is a must! They show you things that you would never find on your own. The Maui Ocean Center is also a great place to visit. A week pass is only a few dollars more than a day pass and that way you can go back multiple times. We made good use of the beach and will definitely miss swimming in the ocean every morning! Sept 2006-C618 - Aloha Kathy – This was my first time even in Hawaii. Staying in Kihei was great; very centrally located – Beautiful weather – beach just across the street and the gorgeous sunsets! We really enjoyed the view from the lanai. The condo was great and met our expectations. Beautiful furniture and your artwork is stunning! Maui truly is paradise! We had yummy Greek salads from the Greek Bistro next door. Lots of hikings, swimming at the beach and under waterfalls, snorkeling, a luau, saw a rainbow Upcountry and fireworks from our lanai. Aloha Kathy: Just a quick email to let you know we returned last night and had a great time at C618. We'd like to do it again next year if the unit is available? Your paintings are lovely and I also loved the Asian touches throughout. Weather was great; just one day of heavy rain, but it was gone by afternoon. Aloha Kathy, We arrived home safely on March 7th after a wonderful vacation in Hawaii. Thank you so much for the rental of your condo. We used the beach chairs, cooler, umbrella, etc. Everything was so handy. I wish we could have spent the last two days there also. I left a vase of Hawaiian flowers on the dining room table. We had bought them along the road on our way to Hanna and enjoyed them for our remaining time at the condo. I left a note for them to be enjoyed. The weather was perfect the whole 10 days we were in Hawaii. Went snorkeling and whale watching and bumming everyday. The high speed Catamaran we went out on one day was wet and wild. I made the mistake of sitting in the front and the misty waves were ok but I didn't like seeing a 12 foot wave coming at me as we were coming down from a 6 foot wave. Death grip on the seat probably kept me from being washed out to sea. Everyone in the front was wet from head to toe. Ate at Roy's in Kihei, which was excellent. Dessert to die for. Hi Kathy, Happy New Year 2003. We enjoyed your place very much and would like to come back one day. I am a teacher and my time is set for the school holidays only. Those are usually the busiest times everywhere and we have to book our tickets well in advance. Aloha, The tropical island is very beautiful. This is my 3rd visit. A few things to do that are a must. Travel to wine country, it's a lovely journey and venture out on a helicopter ride. Aloha Kathy, Tomorrow is our last day. We have been very happy here in Maui and also your condo. Maui is such a beautiful island. Went round the island for an hour in a helicopter, visit to Lahaina, snorkeling cruise, lots of barbecues and meals out and of course the wedding at the Grand Wailea chapel. The wedding was perfect, absolutely beautiful and the reception at the Sea Watch restaurant watching sunset was a dream come true. We didn't get chance to cycle down the volcano, the Hanna road and the Sugar Cane train amongst other things but we will definitely be back in a couple of years.
